Today was reserved for reading and active activities to support our fundraiser. Students started the day with some independent reading and then worked on reading and recording their Haunted Scene in Voicethread. Period 3 and 4 we joined up with Mr. Mousseau's class and we had some great guest speakers come in to share their experiences and read to us: The Fire Chief, three of the LaSalle Vipers and two University of Windsor Basketball players. Period 5 we headed to the gym to practise "Thriller". This dance is something that students have been working on with Mr. Bulat since the beginning of the year. See if you can spot the members of 7E! And we finished off the day with a nice stroll around the pond :)
Is there a relationship between the number of lines of symmetry in a quadrilateral and the number of equal sides? Is there a relationship between the number of equal sides and the number of equal angles? TIME TO INVESTIGATE! Best overheard quote from the group work "I've learned in Math that if it is easy, it is probably wrong...". After talking to the teacher about his thinking/ reasoning "Oh, wow, it was that easy!" Hopefully we are changing some impressions about Mathematics! Some groups even took their investigations to the blackboard! We started to share our findings at the SmartBoard to consolidate our understanding...to be continued tomorrow! Students started painting their chosen animal; zooming in on the eye as the focal point. They will be working on this for the next while. Stay tuned to see the end results! Tomorrow is our "Reading and Walking the Trail".
Students started the day making up sentences with some vocabulary from the novel "Coraline" that we are reading together. Then they started some independent reading with a book of their choice. They finished out Literacy Block working in revising and recording their "Haunted Scenes" using a program called "Voicethread" (more to come on this!) In French Mme Laurendeau gave them some challenging work :) Working through a warm-up activity for investigating triangles...
Check in tomorrow for some more snapshots :) ...to wear your House League colours tomorrow! (Comets-orange, Astros-green, Suns-yellow, Rockets-red and Stars-blue). Click on the link below to review your team's cheer so that you are ready to scream it out loud during the assembly tomorrow!
